It calms
In a moment of panic it speaks in the family's familiar voice. Short sentences, one idea, never arguing: following dementia communication principles.
SONIA is an AI companion that talks to people living with Alzheimer's and dementia in the familiar voice of their family. It calms them in moments of panic, reminds them of their medicine, tells them the time and where they are, and lets you know when something is wrong.

The problem
For people living with dementia, the biggest fear is often not forgetting itself, but being alone in that moment.
The result: deep panic and loneliness.
Today's solutions only tell you where someone is. They do not understand how they feel, and they are not there in the moment.
Even a familiar room can suddenly feel strange.
When they cannot see someone they trust, they feel left behind.
That feeling can turn into intense, unexplained anxiety.
How SONIA helps
In a moment of panic it speaks in the family's familiar voice. Short sentences, one idea, never arguing: following dementia communication principles.
It reminds them about medicine, meals and water out loud and guides them step by step. It tells the time, day and season whenever asked.
It notices lasting fear or sadness in their expression, on the tablet itself, and starts a calming call on its own.
How it works
A lasting look of fear, a touch on the help card, or a routine whose time has come.
It knows the person, their life story, the time of day and why the call started, and chooses what to say.
It talks in a loved one's voice, calms them, and keeps family and carers informed instantly.
Features
Big, clear cards. A single touch and it answers in a loved one's voice: "It is 3:30 in the afternoon. Today is Sunday, and it is autumn." Families can personalise cards with their own photos and recordings.

Call for help
Let's relaxA family member reads a short text or uploads old voice messages, and SONIA speaks in that familiar voice. A voice is only cloned with its owner's explicit consent and can be deleted at any time.
Recording
0:24 / 0:30
Medicine, meals, water, a walk, bedtime. When the time comes SONIA calls and patiently guides them step by step. If the tablet is offline, the family is told.
Families and care staff share one portal: the tablet's live status, call summaries, calls for help and instant notifications on their phones.

Setup
Nothing to download. SONIA opens in the browser and adds itself to the home screen with one tap.
Add your loved one and how they like to be addressed.
Read a short text and plan the daily routine.
Enter the 6-digit code or scan the QR code, then add it to the home screen.
Privacy and dignity
Facial expressions are analysed on the tablet itself. Only "distress noticed" reaches the server; no video is recorded.
A voice is only cloned with its owner's explicit consent and can be permanently deleted at any time.
SONIA does not pretend. If sincerely asked who it is, it gently explains that the voice was lent to it so they would never be alone.
SONIA is open source and can run on your own server. Deleting an account deletes everything.
FAQ
A tablet or phone, an internet connection and a short voice recording from a family member. SONIA runs in the browser; added to the home screen it opens full screen like an app.
The voice is cloned from the family's recording. A recording made in a quiet room with a natural voice gives the best result. Without a cloned voice, SONIA speaks with a warm, natural voice.
No. Nothing is recorded and no image leaves the tablet. The tablet only reads facial expressions in the moment, and this feature is optional.
The picture board and basic cards such as the time and breathing keep working. When the connection returns, SONIA carries on.
Yes. Each resident gets their own profile, voice, routine and tablet. Staff and families share the portal through invite links.
No. SONIA does not replace care; it is a companion that supports carers. In an emergency, always call your local emergency number.
